Please note this is a two session workshop
Read below for more details
When? Saturday 28 Sept and Saturday 12 October, 10-4pm
What? In these workshops you will be shown basic hand-building techniques using slabs, pinching, moulding, coiling and using different textures as well as how to use glazes. Kashmira will lead the workshop in two sessions and you will experience the feel of ‘play with clay’, as she describes her ceramic art practice.
On Saturday 28 September, you will have a basic introduction to the materials and different types of hand-building techniques. You will be given white or brown clay and with some guidance, will use your imagination and creativity to create your own pieces. Different kinds of moulds and texture tools will be provided. There will also be some finished pieces on show for your inspiration.
Your pieces will then be left to dry for about 10 days, bisque fired and will be waiting for you at OVADA for the next session.
On Saturday 12 October, your pieces will be ready for glazing. Using oxides, glazes and techniques, you will finish your pieces before they are fired again for the final time.
At the end of these two sessions, you will have your own ceramic pieces to take home. These can be collected from OVADA after their final firing and there will be an opportunity for an informal feedback session to discuss and share the pieces you have created.
